Vijaya
Dashmi (Dashain)
Vijaya
Dashmi (Dashain) is undoubtedly the biggest
festival in Nepal celebrated during month
of Kartik of Bikram
Sambat calendar (late September and
early October) for 10 days. Even the festival
roots back to Hindu traditions, families
from various religious and cultural backgrounds
gather and celebrate Dashain with the feast.
Dashain traces its roots
back to the great victory of good over evil.
The victory of evil against good was symbolized
by goddess Durga’s victory over demon
Mahisasur who was disused as water buffalo.
Another story tells us about the lord Ram
victory over demon king Ravana in Ramyana.
